Small Definitions

 Internet:

Internet is the collections of computers that are connect to each other. And the TCP/IP is used for the sharing of the data to the computer that are connected in the network. Internet is the biggest source of information sharing.

Word wide web:

These are the information on the internet in the form of text, sound; picture and video are linked or single. These are shareable to different places.

Host:

This is computers that are used to send the data on the internet.

Web Hosting:

The webpages that are ready to publish are given to the web hosting companies that take these sites from that host and publish to the internet. On the internet there are many sites that provide free or costly web hosting.

Domain Name:

Domain is the location of the computer to the internet. This is basically a description of the computer. This is separated by dot.

For example: www.google.com

Domain Name Server:

In short form we told that DNS. This is the corresponded to the IP. For example Google have domain name www.google.com that is correspond to the 2001:4860:4860:: 8888.

IP Address:

This is basically a number that is used to identify the computer that is connected to the internet. Each computer has specific IP address that is connected to the Internet.

HTML:

Html is Hypertext markup language. That tells a browser that how to display text, picture, video and sound to the webpage.

Hypertext:

Hypertext is the text that is used to link the pages on the internet. By clicking on this hypertext user can move to the connected page.

FTP:

File transfer protocol is used to transfer files to the computers that are connected to the Internet. These files are of any type’s text, picture and video etc.

Home page:

Home page is the index page of a website. The page that is first display when open a website.

InterNIC:

It is stand for internet information center. That is managing and allocates the domain name. That is the registered service from the U.S department of commerce and a defunct entity.

Baud:

Baud is the number of time per second that a modem takes to convert an digital signal to the analogue sound.

Bits:

Bits are the number in the form of binary 0s and 1s. Computers store data in the form of binary.

Bytes:

A byte generally consists of eight bits.

Java:

Java is the object-oriented language. That is flexible and easy to use. This language is created by sun Microsoft.

JavaScript:

JavaScript is the scripting language. That is created by Netscape. This is used create multimedia for the websites.

Upload:

To upload is to transfer file from your computer to the internet.

Download:

To download is to transfer file from internet to the computer.

Proxy Server:

Proxy server is a computer that is act as an intermediate between the computer and the internet. Client computer request for the resources that are available for varies servers over the network.

Information Technology:

Information technology is the use of computer, storage, data manipulation, data extraction and exchange of data. That all are happens in the information technology.

These are the some very common use terms of the internet. These are used and manipulate on the internet. We used these once in a day. Basically these terms used widely whether you know or not. Some people do not know about these terms, but at some points of their life them using it without knowing the exact meaning of the terms.
